Amiga Engineering are now offering Australia’s first turn key metal additive manufacturing service to industry. Amiga are proudly manufacturing components from a range of metals including, but not limited to, Aluminium, Titanium and Stainless Steel. We have the scope to manufacture in a range of other metals on the request of the client.

What is Metal Additive Manufacturing?

Additive manufacturing, sometimes referred to as Metal 3D Printing or rapid prototyping, is the process of building 3D components or models from the ground up. This process is achieved layer by layer. Additive manufacturing allows engineers to reduce the weight and size of components. This technology also provides the ability to place fluids more appropriately for air speed and cooling inside the model in impossible to machine places. At Amiga, our expert staff can now manufacture medical parts to fit the clients exact need. Metal additive manufacturing is not limited to these examples, we have unlimited scope.

The Advantages of Additive Manufacturing

 

Whether polymer or metal, additive manufacturing allows geometries not possible using more conventional manufacturing methods. Conventional manufacturing is often limited to places drills and milling cutters can gain physical access. Additive manufacturing comes into a league of its own when implemented for internal spars and structures, parts manufactured as an assembly or internal cavities or pockets unseen.
An increasingly essential advantage to layer by layer construction method is that vibration is almost non existent. This allows super thin features, requiring no more effort than solid structures. This is hugely advantageous when the part must transfer heat or needs an internal lattice structure for strength yet light weight.
Here at Amiga we are not limited to manufacturing new parts. Our team has the skill and technology to add to existing components in a similar, or identical metal. This may be desired to increase the integrity or features on an existing part.
Amiga Engineering have the unique ability to create single or production parts. additive manufacturing is hugely diverse in its application and is not simply ‘one size fits all’. Problems that once occurred when cutting hard or abrasive metals or creating features in places best suited now have a solution. The world of innovation and design has expanded.
