3D Polymer Printing

This year Amiga Additive Manufacturing upgraded its facility to house the largest Privately owned installation of 3D systems DMP and DLP Printers in Australia. This upgrade has given us the ability to produce our Polymer parts in house with some of the fastest and highest resolution printers available. The addition of in house Polymer printing has Confirmed Amiga’s place has one of the most advanced and well equipped manufacturing facilities in the World.

Amiga now has the ability to print polymer parts using DLP, SLA, SLS, FDM and CLP. This gives our customers the ability to have all of their printing needs met with one company, allowing for a faster turn around and less hassle trying to find the desired material or technology.

Unlike other Bureau services we also offer complete finishing services in house, everything from Painting to polishing, sanding to Machining and more!

DLP – Figure 4 Modular

The Figure 4 Modular system has allowed 3D printing to be a viable option for low volume manufacturing, providing incredible detail and speed, this system is a huge leap in Additive Manufacturing. Enabling companies to move directly into manufacturing from a digital CAD file, bypassing tooling costs and delays to start delivering final parts immediately. This semi-automated solution reduces labor through automated job management and queuing, and an automated material feed system.

SLS Printing

Expand your manufacturing capabilities with production-grade nylon materials to produce tough, functional complex parts with excellent surface finish, resolution, accuracy, repeatability and low total cost of operations. SLS printers print in thermoplastic materials designed to offer you the full range of capabilities and isotropic properties, from rigid to elastomeric, high elongation, high impact strength, and high-temperature resistance.

SLS uses a high-powered C02 laser to fuse small particles of powdered material to create 3 dimensional parts. The laser selectively fuses powdered material by scanning X&Y cross-sections on the surface of a powder bed. The model is built one layer at a time from supplied 3D CAD data.

SLS produces parts from impact-resistant engineering plastic, great for low-to mid-volume end-use parts, enclosures, snap-fit parts, automotive components and thin-walled ducting.

SLS produces complex geometries, for low-volume parts that would typically require assembly using traditional manufacturing methods.

Tolerances for standard resolution:

  • X/Y planes: +/-.005” for the first inch, plus +/-.005” for every inch thereafter
  • Z plane: +/-.010” for the first inch, plus +/-.005” for every inch thereafter

SLA Printing

The SLA process’ high accuracy, a large variety of material selections, smooth surface finish, and a wide variety of post-processing options making it the perfect choice for a wide range of rapid manufacturing applications, including concept models, rapid prototypes, master patterns, snap-fit assemblies, and form-and-fit testing.

Whether you are looking for small, intricate electronic connectors or large volume instrument panels for your next concept vehicle, SLA parts can fulfill application needs for transparency, high-temperature, high stiffness or other qualities and functions.

Tolerances for standard resolution:

  • X/Y planes: +/-.005” for the first inch, plus +/-.002” for every inch thereafter
  • Z plane: +/-.010” for the first inch, plus +/-.002” for every inch thereafter
  • Minimum linear feature size: under .030” are at risk and under .020” will not build
  • Minimum radial feature size: .035″

Tolerances for high resolution:

  • X/Y planes: +/-.005” for the first inch, plus +/-.002” for every inch thereafter
  • Z plane: +/-.010” for the first inch, plus +/-.002” for every inch thereafter
  • Minimum linear feature size: under .020” are at risk and under .010” will not build
  • Minimum radial feature size: .030″3D Systems’ SLA printers are able to print highly detailed parts ranging from just a few millimeters in size, all the way up to 1.5 meters (5 ft), with exceptional resolution and accuracy and virtually no part shrinkage or warping.
